Send The Hope of the Cross
Mary and I have retired from sea duty. The physical and mental demands have grown to be more than we are capable of sustaining. We were in discussions with a ministry of like faith to take over Sea Hope, but the ship suffered a material casualty that was just not economical to repair, and it just was not possible to complete the turnover.. The difficult decision was made to also retire Sea Hope from ministry.
All I can say is God was so gracious and good. Only in eternity will we know the full extent of the people helped and of the number of people won to the Lord through the outreach of Sea Hope.. The food taken to St Vincent in 2021 after the volcano eruption was used to supply 12 food pantries and the medical supplies went to a national hospital. In Haiti, we reached about 18 churches, two children’s homes, two Christian schools, and several remote villages. After the earthquake in 2021, the building materials carried by Sea Hope was used to build 5 church shelters….these churches were then able to double as schools.
I do not know the number of people who prayed for us; certainly it was in the hundreds if not thousands. Well over 100 people gave of their time and talent to work on Sea Hope.. Somewhere between 50-100 people went to sea on her. We had churches from at least 14 states supporting us, including a church on a Natie American reservation in Arizona. About 30 individuals financially supported us. Again, only in eternity will we know the number of folks who will share in the rewards from the Sea Hope Mnistry.
We are settling all our accounts and any funds left over will be distributed by the board to ministries of like faith. To date, we have given $5,000 to each of 3 different ministries
Please continue to lift Mary and I up in your prayers.. This ministry may be over, but there is still work to be done.
